This program outlines the procedures, responsibilities and training required under Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (29 CFR 1910.1200) to ensure compliance and protect our university community.
EHS provides support for all key requirements of hazard communication:
- Chemical inventory and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) availability
- Chemical labeling
- Worker Training
Covered Workers
Hazard Communication, or "HazCom," applies to all workers at all University locations who are or are potentially exposed to hazardous chemicals, excluding only those covered by the Laboratory Chemical Safety Program.
HazCom Written Program
This written program details the HazCom program requirements, roles and responsibilities, and provide templates to support compliance and safety.
HazCom Training
Initial and annual hazcom training are required for any affected workers. EHS can provide onsite training upon request or workers may take the online training via EDGE.
Inventory, SDS & Labels
EHS provides a chemical inventory, safety data sheet (SDS), and labeling service to all university entities. Complete the chemical inventory and send to ehs-help@arizona.edu to initiate the service and receive orientation.
